Adding your first playlist
- Open OmniStream and tap Add Playlist on the home screen.
- Choose either M3U URL or Xtream Codes depending on your provider.
- Enter your playlist URL or Xtream credentials (server, username, password) and tap Connect.
- OmniStream will load your channels, movies, and series automatically.
Navigating the app
The bottom navigation bar gives you quick access to Live TV, Movies, Series, and Favourites. Swipe left/right within any section to switch categories.
Managing multiple playlists
You can add more than one playlist. Go to Settings → Playlists to add, remove, or switch between them. Each playlist keeps its own favourites, hidden content, and category preferences independently.
The OmniStream home screen is fully customisable. You can control which carousels and sections are displayed to keep things clean and relevant to how you watch.
Carousel toggles
Head to Settings → Home Screen to enable or disable the individual carousels shown on your home screen. Available toggles include:
- Continue Watching — shows content you've recently started but not finished.
- Recently Added — highlights new content from your playlist.
- Favourites — a quick-access row of your starred channels, movies, and series.
- Recommended — suggested content based on your watch history.
Simply toggle off any section you don't need to keep your home screen tidy.
OmniStream offers three tiers:
- Free Trial — Full premium access for the first 7 days, no payment required.
- Premium — Unlimited playlists, no ads, all features unlocked.
- Lite — Free forever with adverts and a reduced feature set.
Subscriptions are managed through the Google Play Store and billed monthly or annually.
Restoring a purchase
If you reinstall the app or switch devices, go to Settings → Subscription and tap Restore Purchase. Make sure you're signed into the same Google account used for the original purchase.
Cancelling your subscription
Cancel anytime through Google Play → Subscriptions. You'll keep premium access until the end of your billing period, then automatically drop to the Lite tier.
Audio tracks
Tap the screen during playback to reveal the player controls, then tap the Audio button to switch between available tracks. This is useful for streams that carry multiple language options. Track availability depends entirely on what your IPTV provider includes in the stream.
Subtitles
Tap the Subtitles button in the player controls to select a subtitle track if one is available. As with audio, subtitle availability is down to your provider.
Picture-in-Picture (PiP)
OmniStream supports Android's Picture-in-Picture mode, letting you continue watching while you use other apps. To activate it, tap the PiP button in the player controls, or simply press the Android home button during playback — the video will shrink into a floating window automatically.
You can move the PiP window around the screen by dragging it. Tap it to expand back to full screen.
Multi-Screen mode
Multi-Screen lets you watch more than one stream at the same time, displayed in a split-screen or grid layout on your device. This is ideal for keeping an eye on multiple channels simultaneously — sports fans in particular will find this useful.
You can pull streams from different playlists into the same multi-screen view — without having to switch your active playlist, select the playlist from the dropdown and either search or scroll to add the channel to the multi-screen selection, and repeat for other playlists. Each panel plays independently and can be individually controlled.
Buffering & stuttering
Buffering is almost always caused by your network connection or your IPTV provider's server load — not the app itself. Things to try:
- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data to rule out a local network issue.
- Try a different channel to see if it's isolated to one stream.
What is EPG?
EPG (Electronic Programme Guide) is the TV guide data that shows what's airing now, what's coming up, and — if your provider supports it — what's available to watch back. EPG data is provided by your IPTV playlist supplier, not OmniStream itself.
Downloading EPG data
OmniStream offers two ways to download EPG:
- Bulk download — downloads the full EPG dataset for all channels at once. This is quick but some providers only include a limited date range (often just the next day or two) in their bulk feed.
- Per-channel download — fetches EPG data individually for each channel. This is slower overall but can retrieve a wider range of schedule data where the provider supports it.
Viewing the guide
The TV guide can be displayed in two formats:
- Grid view — a traditional timeline grid showing channels and their schedules side by side. Great for browsing what's on across multiple channels at a glance.
- List view — a scrollable list of programmes for a single channel. Useful when you're focused on one channel's schedule.
Tap the view toggle in the guide header to switch between them.
Catch-Up TV
Catch-Up allows you to watch programmes that have already aired. In the guide, programmes with catch-up available are marked with a replay icon — tap one to watch it back.
You may also occasionally notice that catch-up programme times appear slightly off — for example, a show listed as starting at 8pm actually starts a few minutes earlier or later in the recording. This can happen when a provider's server is based in a different time zone and the archive timestamps haven't been adjusted correctly. Again, this is a provider-side issue and not something the app can correct.
Adding favourites
Tap any channel, movie, or series to open its info panel, then tap the star icon to add it to your favourites. Favourited items appear at the top of their respective sections so your most-watched content is always within reach.
To remove a favourite, simply tap the star again — it works as a toggle.
Collections
Collections let you group content into your own custom lists — think of them as personalised playlists within OmniStream. You might create a collection for a particular genre, a set of sports channels, or a series you're working through with the family.
To create a collection:
- Go to the Collections tab in the main navigation.
- Tap New Collection and give it a name.
- Browse to any channel, movie, or series, open its info panel, and tap Add to Collection.
Collections can include content from across different categories and even from different playlists, making them a flexible way to organise exactly what you watch.
Setting up a PIN
- Go to Settings → Parental Controls.
- Tap Enable Parental Controls and set a 4-digit PIN.
- Once enabled, the PIN will be required to access any content you've chosen to lock.
Locking content
You can lock individual channels, movies, or series directly from their info panel. Simply tap the item to open the info window, then tap the padlock icon to lock it. The same process applies across Live TV, Movies, and Series — tap the item, tap the padlock.
Locked content will require the PIN before it can be played. To unlock an item, open its info panel and tap the padlock again.
You can organise your category lists across Live TV, Movies, and Series to show only what's relevant to you. Go to Settings → Manage Categories to get started.
Favouriting categories
Tap the star ⭐ next to any category to mark it as a favourite. Favourited categories are pinned to the top of the list so your most-used sections are always the first thing you see.
Hiding & unhiding categories
Tap the eye 👁 next to a category to hide it. Hidden categories are removed from the main browse view entirely. Tap the eye again at any time to make them visible again.
Playlist won't load
- Double-check your M3U URL or Xtream credentials with your provider.
- Make sure your device has an active internet connection.
- Try opening the M3U URL directly in a browser — if it doesn't load there either, the issue is with your provider.
- Delete and re-add the playlist in Settings → Playlists.
App crashes or freezes
Force-stop the app via Android's App Settings and relaunch. If it persists, try clearing the cache via Android Settings → Apps → OmniStream → Storage → Clear Cache. If crashes continue, please contact support with a description of what you were doing when it happened.
EPG not showing
Go to Settings → EPG and tap Refresh EPG. Allow a few minutes for the data to download. If the guide remains empty, your provider may not supply EPG data on your subscription — contact them directly to confirm.
