Multi-Screen Mode: Watch 4 Streams at Once
Multi-screen mode is one of OmniStream's most popular features — the ability to watch up to four live channels simultaneously, all on the same screen. Whether you're monitoring several sports matches, keeping an eye on news channels, or just want to browse while something plays in the background, multi-screen makes it possible.
How to Enter Multi-Screen Mode
Getting into multi-screen mode is straightforward:
- From the Live TV channel list, tap the Multi-Screen icon in the top toolbar (it looks like four small squares)
- The screen will split and prompt you to select a channel for each pane
- Tap each empty pane and choose a channel from your list
- All active panes will begin playing simultaneously
You can start with two streams and add more at any time, up to a maximum of four. You don't have to fill all four — a two or three-pane layout works just as well.
Controlling Audio
When multiple streams are active, only one can play audio at a time. The currently active stream — shown with a highlighted border — is the one you'll hear. To switch audio to a different stream, simply tap on that pane to make it active.
Changing Channels in Multi-Screen
To change the channel playing in any pane:
- Tap the pane you want to change
- Tap the channel name or the swap icon that appears
- Select a new channel from the list
The other active panes continue playing without interruption while you browse the channel list.
Expanding a Stream to Full Screen
If you want to temporarily expand one stream to full screen without leaving multi-screen mode, double-tap on any pane. Double-tap again to return to the split view with all streams intact.
Device Performance Considerations
Running multiple simultaneous video streams is one of the most demanding things you can ask of a mobile device. Here's what to keep in mind:
- More streams = more CPU and RAM usage. Four simultaneous HD streams will push even a high-end device fairly hard. If you notice stuttering or lag, try reducing to two or three streams.
- Stream quality matters. Four simultaneous 4K streams will exceed the capabilities of virtually any current Android device. Multi-screen works best with standard definition or HD channels, not 4K.
- Network bandwidth. Each stream requires its own bandwidth. If your connection is slow or congested, multi-screen will amplify the problem. A stable, faster connection gives the best results.
- Battery drain. Extended multi-screen use will drain your battery significantly faster than single-channel playback. Plugging in is recommended for extended sessions.
When Multi-Screen Isn't Available
Multi-screen mode is a Premium feature and is not available on the Lite tier. If you're currently on the free trial you'll have full access, but once the trial ends, multi-screen requires an active Premium subscription.
